Ali-abstract
Ok, here’s my first attempt at an abstract (I am not 100% sure what makes a photo an abstract so maybe this isn’t even an abstract).
Camera = Digital Rebel
Lens = Sigma 50mm f/2.8 Macro EX
Focal Length = 50mm
A = f/5.6
SS = 1/200Sec
ISO = 200
Comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I was just a couple of inches away, it was the most laid back alligator I have ever encountered. It wasn’t so frightening because he was only a little over a foot long.

Outstanding.
This is a great abstract, for the simple reason that had you not told us, we'd have no idea what kind of eye we were looking at (unless we were biologists maybe). This is a really cool shot. What might make it even better is if you crop a little off the bottom so that it really makes it a mystery.
Snake? Lizard? Gator? Alien from Planet X?

I'd hate to think you got that close to a 15 footer! ;) I couldn't tell if it was a cropped shot or not. That's pretty amazing that you got that close without the gator moving! I agree with Puck, maybe just a bit off the bottom to bring the eye a little closer to the center. Keep posting- I love close-ups! |

Very nice
The eye is without doubt the centre of interest & being in the upper third of the frame gives it a pleasing composition, I wouldn't crop it I feel it's just right.
Even a 1 foot long Gator can BITE! your braver than me. Good Shot ;)

Yikes
this shot made me think of that series that was on tv years ago (maybe I'm dating myself)
it was called V: visitors...I really love the composition and the colors and how detailed this shot is...it would n't have been just to not make it a featured photo.

Talking about an abstract... If you copy the picture, flip horizontal, and put it next to the original.. you'll create a very, very strange creature.
