Some Soccer Pics

While cleaning out some of my old pictures and moving them to a computer with a larger hard drive, I came across some pictures from an afternoon of soccer that I shot for my college newspaper. I went through them all again, picked the best ones, and touched them up in photoshop.

I was wondering if someone could explain something to me about one of the pictures. In the one iwth the goalie, you will see a church in the background. That church is about half a mile, or more, away from the soccer field, but if you look at the picture, you would think it was across the street. Can anyone tell me why it was magnified so much?
