So I was photographing the NORBA Nationals races today, the expert downhill race to be more specific.
I was at one of the more technical section of the course, called "The Waterfall".
I was up close and personal to the action, but behind the barrier, when a racer comes down "The Waterfall" and crashes.
You have to understand that where I am standing is on quite a slope, I have a good footing and leaning against a tree as well.
His bike heads toward me and I feel as if I almost pulled out of the way, there was no one standing near me.
I fall down the mountain, or more like roll. I must have fallen six or eight feet.
The ground below me was rocky and a few fallen trees too.
This all happened in a second or two.
I got up, feeling quite the rush of adrenaline.
I was wearing my Tamrac backpack, and I swear it saved my back and head.
So the next time you are out photographing downhill moutain bike racing.
Wear Your Photo Backpack!
