PhoTags Active Images - Press Release

PhoTags Inc. Demonstrates Active Images, The JPEG Multimedia Messaging System at Future Image Mobile Imaging Summit

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - June 7 , 2005 - PhoTags Inc., The Portable Infoimaging Company, today demonstrated its new patent-pending Active Images(tm) technology. Active Images turns any JPEG file into a self-contained multimedia messaging system, allowing users to send text messages, music, sound files, forms and more - all on a single JPEG file. The demonstration is taking place at the Future Image Mobile Imaging Summit in Amsterdam.

Active Images uses PhoTags Inc.'s patented Active-Captions® technology to provide true portability solutions for Infoimaging. Using the PhoTags Active Image Generator(tm) application, anyone can easily add any type of metadata or media file to a JPEG Image. Watermarks, forms, text messages, music, links to Internet sites, voice recordings, portable digital wallet information, and even videos can all be stored on a JPEG image, and accessed on any device that has the Active Image thin client application installed.

Non-destructive visible icons are placed on the image itself to indicate what type of content is stored in the JPEG. The user can turn off icons at anytime. In addition to adding content, the user has full control of the choice of watermark placement, how the recipient will view text, and which family of icons will be displayed. Users with Active Images enabled devices can retrieve the content by either clicking on or rolling over the icon, depending upon the device.

Any device that can view a JPEG file can be enabled to retrieve the contents stored in Active Image JPEGs. Cell phones and wireless devices with limited display real estate can now retrieve text, voice messages, music files, and forms from a JPEG image without the need for an additional user interface. Active Images can be sent by any method supported by the portable device receiving the Active Image including: MMS, WAP push, e-mail, Infra-Red and Blue Tooth.

Active Images offer a wide array of functionality beyond creating multimedia message files. Content providers can protect their Images by adding an Active Watermark(tm) to an Active Image. When an image is downloaded from the Internet to a cell phone, for example, the purchaser's cell phone number can be encrypted as a password into the image. The watermark can only be unlocked on the phone that matches the password. Active Images can also function as a portable digital wallet. A photo can store the user's driver's license and credit card information, and make it accessible only to the user.

Active Image functionality is built into the Active Captions SDK (software development kit) and can be easily integrated into any existing application in the supported platforms.
