I'm also involved with the gallery. Last years show had some really good work from around the country. The gallery gets good exposure as The Sunday New York Times ran some photos from the current show that will be ending the 24th of this month. So it is a good opportunity. My shot is of the bearded man on the top left. Bad scan from the paper.

what types of photos does one enter into such a thing? Artistic shots? Journalistic shots?

I have no idea, as I've never entered one.

Well, the gallery is more fine-art photography oriented, but that's sort of all-encompassing and doesn't really narrow it down for you. He has shown work ranging from traditional street (like Gerry's work) to digital photography heavily manipulated in Photoshop, and everything in between. However, I don't know what type of imagery the judge will go for. Feel free to e-mail me personally if you need more information.

I'm in an internet cafe and there's a fire a few doors down so I think I'm going to cut this post short! And drat, I don't have my camera with me.

    Ps

There are some member's images and images from previous shows on the Stepping Stone website, if you want to get a better idea.

I have no idea what the jurist is looking for. I would think any category would be fine. From portraits, street work, scenics, double exposures to fully manipulated images in photoshop. I think what is important is whatever category you choose the image should be strong within that genre. I'd rather see a wonderful creative portrait than a lousy street shot.

Thanks for posting this Megan. I'm glad I looked in here today. I sent off a CD. Figured it couldn't hurt.
