National Aviation Museum

Located on what was the runways for the former CFB Ottawa North (RCAF Rockcliff) is the National Aviation Museum, it covers pretty much the whole history of flight in Canada. Both Military and Civilian flight is covered. However in this post, I'll focus on the Military side of things.


Sopwith 7F.1 Snipe


Junkers J.I - an all metal plane produced in 1917, 5mm thick armor rendered the plane invincible against AA and Small Arms fire of the day. This is also the only J.I left in the world, intact.

Hawker Hurricane XII


North American Harvard II - the yellow paint scheme indicated that this was a trainer, part of the BCATP (British Commonwealth Air Training Program)

Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow 2 - this is the nose section of the Arrow Designated RL-206, it would've been the first CF-105 equipped with the awesome Iroquois Engine.

Axle, great images. I didn't realize there were any pieces of the Avro Arrow left around, I thought they had all been junked. I cringe every time I see one because it makes me think of th @#$%^ decision made by the government of the day and what it did to the Canadian Aviation industry as an employer in Canada. Thanks for these.
