Leaning Tree...

[Irie Times]

Please give my your thoughts on this photograph of a Leaning Tree, it was originally taken in color and converted to b&w. I came across it today while trying to clean up and organize some of my pictures. I can't decide if there is to much empty space on the right side of the tree or not.

Yep it is leaning all right. looks like it is trying to avoid the storm clouds heading its way. I dont see empty space - i see a storm that is crucial to the mood of the photo. To me the tree and clouds take on personalities, and are almost "personified" as if telling a story. If anything the clouds at the top are "empty" but you may need to keep them there if you want to retain the dimensions of the print.

Interesting shot. Try kicking up the contrast a bit. It looks more ominious!

This is really a great composition. It has mood, and captures my attention. I like this alot. Maybe just a black point adjustment or histogram/levels. . .just to get the blacks black and the whites white in here. But i like it as it is, nonetheless. greatshot.

I think it's a great shot full of mood. I do agree with you though, a little too much empty space.

Great image.......gives the impression of cool strong wind and isolation.
I generally like the space to the right of the tree it adds to the mood of the image and gives strength to the positioning of the the tree in the composition. If anything I would loose about half to two thirds of the sky above the tree and make your image more panoramic.

I really like the atmosphere of this image. It's making me feel sorry for the tree and all it has to endure day after day. My only thought is that it might be able to use a bit off the top, say to the bottom of the bright bit of cloud. When I scroll it on my screen to that crop, it seems like the weather is closing in even more menacingly upon the little tree.

Nice photo. It actually makes me think of some movie scene where they've just dropped "the bomb" and there's nothing left but smoke, ash and a lone sad tree.

Excellent composition.. it has mood, feel, and indeed the tree does appear to have a mind of its own avoiding the impending doom..... great shot!

I'm with everyone else. Love the shot, love your fix, crop the top. Don't crop the right side though. I love storm shots, it really is very very nice.
