    Removing Photo Edits

I have some photos which I think were edited in mspaint and parts of the photos are blocked when I open the photo. When I just view the thumbnails, the entire photos are visible, althought very small, and do not have the blocks/edits in place unless I refresh the thumbnails at which time they appear. So I do not think the edits are fully embedded in the photos. Is there any way to remove the edits on the full size photo?

    Welcome to the site!

Do you have an image you can upload that shows the problem? Also if you are on a PC you could try right clicking the file and have it open in MS paint or a different editing program.

    Re: Removing Photo Edits

My short answer would be that you probably have lost the original image and cannot get back to it, if that is what you're attempting.

The reason you can see the original in the thumbnail is that the camera captured the image and immediately made a thumb and embedded it in the photo at creation time. It is put in the EXIF data as we say. I have a post in this forum on an app you can use to remove that thumb, if you don't want to confuse viewers with a thumb that shows one thing but shows another when it's opened. But in your case you want to return to the thumb -- I don't think it's possible (hopefully I'm wrong).
