    New Lightroom 3 Beta

Adobe announced beta version 2 of Lightroom 3. Hopefully that means we're getting close to a final version. A couple of the interesting additions are DSLR video support and tethered shooting support for some Canon and Nikon DSLRs.

I'm hoping DRG is already testing this and working on a real article for us

From the sounds of this John, it seems like the 3rd generation LR is going to be more significant than the improvement of version 2 over the 1.0, and that was a great improvement.
I'm so looking forward to its release as there are many things addressed and improved that I've been wanting.

One thing that was immediately noticed was that the tethered shooting does not replace capture software, so I'm not sure it's that huge of an improvement over simply setting up a watched folder.

I am finishing up a review and notes of the the Version 2 Beta this morning and was interested to see this comment. If this is meant to say the Lightroom doesn't fully control the camera controls and settings then yes, at this point Adobe has opted not to include that function set in the software. They do report for the supported cameras basic exposure settings and allow for the shutter to be tripped within the program.

There is fairly extensive image tagging and storage destination functionality built in to what is a test program. It is of course implemented in Adobe LR's subtle interface style, but it is there.

I'd say at this point what Adobe is currently showing is a rather large improvement for integration purposes over a watched folder implementation alone. Once any image is 'in the Lightroom' it can have a myriad of options automatically applied or displayed in several ways. So I am curious as to what other Capture Software functionality is needed, certainly at this point in the beta process?
