    datacolor Spyder3Pro monitor calibrator Review

    Just recieved my monitor calibrator.
    Wow! super simple to operate.
The monitor cal went so fast I had to do it again just to be sure.
    Basic steps
    load the CD
    register the software
    upload the latest version
    launch application
follow the on screen instructions to reset your monitor to default settings.
Plug in the USB sensor and wait for the drivers to load.
Again follow the on screen instructions to place the sensor in the test area.
The test area will display many levels of RGB blk and gray.
The software creates a profile and you are done.

Could not be easier. I highly recommend this monitor calibrator to anyone wanting their monitor tuned up.

The only CON I have is the overall brightness of the monitor when surfing the web. It's a little too bright for me.

I tried to post a real review but could not find datacolor
or Spyder manufacturer in the review list.

Since Internet Explorer in WinXP does not use the calibration file, I set the monitor brightness to a level I like for IE and then calibrate. - TF

There needs to be an addition to the Reviews Section. Datacolor was previously called Colorvision and product line has changed names. Post in the Site Feedback what you want an entry for so you can post a review.

Re: datacolor Spyder3Pro monitor calibrator Review

I installed Spyder 2 a few weeks ago, and every time I start up my computer, I get a message that it's time to recalabrate my monitor. But when I click on the program, I get a message that it's already running and to check my "tasks tray." It's not in my task tray, and I can't figure out how to run the calibation again.
    Anyone?

    Hi Ron,
It sounds like a preference might be set wrong. Right click the icon down by the Windows clock and check all the preference settings.
Did you go to Datacolors website to check for the latest update?

And if that doesn't work; un-install the software and re-install.
The application might have been corrupted.

Re: datacolor Spyder3Pro monitor calibrator Review

    Thanks Bob,

I suspect I may have made some kind of mistake when installing it, so last night I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it, being a little more careful about the set-up instructions.
During the first installment, when it asked me to reset the monitor's controls to factory default, I couldn't remember changing anything, so I didn't do that. But it occurred to me later that I did change the brightness early on, so I took the time to reset all the controls this time.
I still don't have an Icon in the task bar, so we'll see what happens in a couple of weeks when it reminds me to recalabrate.
Is it possible that one has to insert the installation CD each time one recalabrates?

I would not think so since you usually get the latest update from the website. So the CD sooner or later becomes obsolete.
