I am trying to use CS3 extended using Scott Selbys Photoshop CS3 book and it has helped a lot.
However it does not explain the tools palette or how to work with the individual tools and what they are for. Can anyone recommend a good book that will explain the palette to me.

I take it you don't have the Adobe CS3 manual? That's the best thing to use. I would just do a Google search for "Photoshop CS3 Tools Pallete."

after struggling with books & forums i found www.software-cinema.com & by julieanne kost you can have it on line or dvd it comes from the states .i think it is very good

Adobe publishes a great series of books called CLASSROOM IN A BOOK. I'd get it for Photoshop. You'll learn a ton.
