    Corel X5 Hits the Streets

Corel just released CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5. Check it out at http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satelli...8#tabview=tab0

    Compared to older versions:
    http://www.corel.com/content/pdf/cdg..._matrix_en.pdf

It includes a built-in "Content Organizer", probably Corel's competitor, though not answer, to Adobe Bridge. The reviews of it were somewhat disappointing: it works nice for viewing your images, but you can't edit the metadata like you can in Bridge.

I will probably upgrade to it soon and post my eval on the site. :10:

Re: Corel X5 Hits the Streets

I just posted a review on the site for Corel Photo Paint X5. My feelings are, Corel didn't change much from earlier versions. It now supports RAW though I think it did this is X4 already (I have X3). There are other small changes here and there - image straightening, better layer (they call them objects) organization -etc, but they may have put the bulk of their effort into Corel Draw, which is their vector drawing tool, and Paint Shop Pro. Unfortunately, still no HDR or pano support.

I guess if you're a Corel groupie like me it's definitely worth the upgrade. $189 for their Corel Draw Suite which includes Draw, Photo Paint, Capture and some other new stuff I haven't played with yet.

    Viva Corel.
