Canon 50D RAW files and Photoshop Elements

I recently got a Canon 50D and tried loading my photos on my computer and Photoshop Elements 4.0 wouldn't load my RAW files. I upgraded to a trial version of Elements 7.0 and it still won't load my raw files. Anyone have a clue why? I put in a help question on the PS website but haven't gotten an answer, at least not yet.

Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Camera RAW. I would think PSE 7 would have the correct decoder for the 50D RAW files, but I'm not sure. You may have to convert your RAW files to DNG files first, then open them and process those images in PSE.

There was just a thread on this a week or two ago. I will see if I can find it.

I did find the other thread, but it was dealing with Nikon files. When you have PSE open, go to Help > Updates. The system will automatically go out and check for any updates for your version of PS. Not sure if you can do that with the trial version, but it's worth a shot. I think you need to have Camera RAW 5 to open 50D files. Good luck.

Scroll down for the installation instructions. Read them. I didn't and had to do it twice after wasting an hour.
