Can anyone please advise on achieving a certain look?

    Hey all,

I'm trying to get to the bottom of achieving a certain look to my photos.

I've seen a few posts about it, none of which have been any real use, as it seems quite a favourite 'look' amongst contemporary photographers.

A lot have people have refered to it as a 'painted' look or 'annie leibovitz' style.

It's characterised by muted muddy tones, a 'soft' feel but still sharp and crisp. Blacks look solid and the picture has a good tonal range but seems 'light'.

Below is a link to work by photographer Laura Stevens.

The style/look I'm trying to achieve is most evident in her series 'another november'

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

It seems to me that she is saturating the color.
    Try this:
Convert your image to Lab color mode.
Using the curves tool compress the a and b channels so that they boost up the color.
