Aperture 3 - Anyone tried it? Opinions?

I'm currently using Aperture 2.1.4 I've read a lot of the reviews/likes/dislikes posted on many of the boards.

I'm going to download it today and explore. The new video processing as well as the non-destructive brushes have intrigued me!

I've been using it since it shipped. It's a mixed bag; the features are great, the overall quality of the program is horrifyingly bad. It's the most un-Apple experience I've ever had with their software. Bugs galore, jerky/slow performance that slows down the whole machine, and the occasional total crash (program closes). If you need some of the new features, do it. If not, don't, you'll be frustrated. I'm a casual user, not pro, and I think I'd lose my mind if I had to use this all day professionally.

The Mac forum on dpreview.com has seen posting like crazy dealing with Aperture 3. Users are sounding off, most seem to be disappointed.

I use Aperture 3 and love it, then again this is the first iteration of Aperture I have used, and when I tried PS Elements I could never get my .nef files to show thumbnails where I've never had a problem with Aperture. I do agree with it being very un-Apple like but once used to that it works great.

There are some great tips tutorials and videos here:http://aperture.maccreate.com/

I'm a professional and use it everyday. I haven't experienced the performance issues that some have. Not everyone experiences them. It depends a lot on your set up.

I have to assume that is true, because it's almost unusable for my amateur needs. I can't imagine sitting in front of it for hours the way it behaves now. This wasn't an issue with 2 or 1, so something has changed in the software.

Re: Aperture 3 - Anyone tried it? Opinions?

Just had another thing to ad here. On my macbook (2.26core 2 with 4gb ram) I runs flawlessly but on my mac mini (2.26 2gb ram). It freezes when opening a .nef file in full screen. Thought I would add that in case it helps someone decide.
