    Post Henri Cartier-Bresson

There is a large retrospective of Cartier-Bresson at the Foam Photgraphy Museum in Amsterdam runs through April.

For those not able to travel to Holland I'll include a link with some images including one of my favorites of Matisse.

One of my favorites too. I feel lucky that I've been able to see as many original prints as I have in several museums and galleries here in the US. One gallery in Austin TX had the Matisse photograph (second down on your link) which I would have liked to bring home, but it was a little;) out of my price range.

Welcome to the site. I just got a Cartier-Bresson book for Christmas, and I really like it.

    AV,

Do you remember the name of the gallery that had that Matisse photo? I'd like to go check it out.

    Thanks,
    Paul

It was about 2-1/2 years ago at the Oswald Gallery. It was $5k IIRC - but HCB was living at that point and I can only guess at the value of his signed prints now. He signed the mat on this print, and his signature took up about half the width of the mat on this 11x14 print.

The Oswald Gallery is like a museum - several Ansel Adams, an Imogen Cunningham, the list goes on. Great music store right near there too (Underground?). Austin is a great city. If it wasn't so freakin' hot I'd have to think about moving there!

Edit: So here's the answer on the value of an HCB print... I've seen Brie, France somewhere before - maybe it was the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I'm deffinitely going to go check this place out when I get all this Christmas stuff over with. There are a lot of galleries here, and I've only been to a few. Many more to see.

Austin is a great place to live. I only wish it was closer to the mountains. The heat in the summer is not pleasant, but the rest of the year has pretty good weather.

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Re: Henri Cartier-Bresson

    Hi All,
I'm new here and really don't know a lot about posting. I've been doing research online on Henri Cartier-Bresson because I believe the picture I have might be an original. I purchased the picture about 10 years ago at a "divorce sale" that contained a large art collection. It's "on the Banks of the Marne" and has the glowing gelatin outline both in the picture and the signature.
Can someone tell me how I can find out if this picture is valuable? In my research I've seen a VERY wide range of prices.
