Photography As Art Forum

This forum is for artists who use a camera to express themselves. If your primary concern is meaning and symbolism in photography, then you've come to the right place. Please respect other community members and their opinions when discussing the meaning of "art" or meaning in images. If you'd like to discuss one of your photos, please upload it to the photo gallery, and include a link to that gallery page in your post. Moderators: Irakly Shanidze, Megan, Asylum Steve

    Hello everyone,

I'm a university student and am doing a photomedia module within my degree. I am hoping you can help me..

Does anyone know of any artisits that explore the idea of discomfort within photos, this could be the object (a person) not wanting their photo to be taken, I am trying to remember an artist who was renowned for taking photos a second after the subject thought it had been taken. Kind of creating an after photo experience from the subject, a more relaxed compusure would have therefore been portrayed rather than the fixed constructed smile...any kind of 'discomfort' photographic explorations of which any of you know of would be huuuugely appreciated

    Thanks

    Re: Help with artists!

i've done a lot of research on creating tension and discomfort in photographs by composition and elements of design, which i can tell you about. as for making a subject uncomfortable, sorry can't help my style in candid photography is more like a "fly on a wall" than an "elephant in a china shop"
