    March project...the four elements

Borrowing from the ideas thread. Cara's suggestion.

    Earth, air, fire, water!

Individually or together as pairs, trios, or all of them if you can do it.

    Have fun!
    Keep Shooting!

    Re: March project...the four elements

If anyone's interested, the Tarot representations of the four elements, might give some extra ideas:

    Swords: Air, representation of intellect
    Cups: Water, representation of emotion
    Staves/Wands: Fire, representation of passions/energy
Coins/Disks/Pentacles: Earth, representation of the physical/material

    Hrmmm....

    Deer getting some good air--

Birds are typically a representation of air

Air meets water.. this shot is versatile, I used in last months too

    Self explanatory I think

From the earth we come, to the earth we return...

Hrm... damselflies representing air, the water representing, well, water, mating representing the physical (earth).

    Self explanatory

    Nice! I have a few.
I will also try to get some new one's taken. It'll help me with my yearly project

Well ... "Red" is my interpretation of fire hehe

    Earth, Water and Air

A water droplet. I plan to take more of these. I am determined to perfect it.

Can I say this is a model of the planet "Earth?" lol

Not exactly fire but ... make a wish!

Cara - all your images are very nice. But I LOVE this one! Absolutely stunning! What camera/lens did you use? The XSi and 55-250? Great job.

Thanks Liz I think I titled that one "Watch for Falling Nuthatches"

It was the XSi and the Canon 300mm f/4 L IS. It's definitely a lucky shot.I was taking shots of him on the feeder when he dropped like this and flew away. I'd say a split second before this shot he was still on the feeder, and a split second after this he was already spreading his wings.

That's an awesome lens! No wonder the bokeh is so smooth - and the bird and feeder so sharp. Great capture!

    Re: March project...the four elements

LOL, okay, now I remember why I shoot wildlife... I suck at setting up shots...

Anyway, decided to play around with my two favorite tarot decks and try and make a shot for this. Threw my sheet over the and pillows and tried to arrange some cards, stuck the reading lamp on and put my nifty fifty on the the camera. Played around with some creative development in lightroom.

As I mentioned earlier, the each of the four minor arcana suits in Tarot represent one of the elements- Swords: Air, Circles: Earth, Cups: Water, Staves: Fire

    1. Central part of this set up is one card from each minor arcana suit (Cups, Circles, Swords, and Staves), crossed in the center by The World.

2,3,4 and 5,- My other deck. Once again, central four cards from each suit. I tried to pick cards that represented the element in them well.

It was a better idea than it turned out I think, LOL. :P
