    Re: December project...portraits

I shoot so much these days!
What with, joining my local photographic society in september and getting thrown in the Advanced grade, and also continuing to take part in photo projects and challenges, I have so much of fun

I took these the other day for the purpose of capturing my daughters "New Do".

Then they grabbed bananas and started using them as phones lol. Lisa ate hers and then decided to have a fun shot taken

    Gone Bananas

and the last one I took at the same time for an "Oops Challenge" (which has managed to get me into the finals!)
So my bum DID look big in this!!!

Thank you Jetrim. Fun isn't it

Awww don't be like that JB. They are great shots.

Love her nails. I used to colour each of my nails a different colour when I was at school.

And the second shot is so sweet. You can tell how cold she is by her body language. Your pictures say alot to me

    Amazing portraits here.
Alison, you continue to impress to no end. Love the color treatment and tones in that last one.

I have only a couple of self portraits, so here goes.

Such talent we have with portraits! Some fantastic shots in this thread.

Here are some non-formal shots that are the extent of my portrait talent.

I see choosing a featured photo will be difficult this month.

I would not want your job.

Question: Technically, is a "portrait" defined as sitting/standing someone, deliberately posing them, using lights and so forth - kind of a formal thing.........or, are the more informal, candid shots, whether head/head and shoulders/full body -- also considered portraiture in the day-to-day world of photography??

I see both types here, and I just wonder if the pros make a distinction?

Here's a few of mine from a wedding this past Saturday:

My good friend - my most "formal" one:

    A grab shot:

And this is why I hate that cake-in-the-face thing -- she did it first...
