Great idea for a project, JETA! I think we will see a wide variety of images. I hope this fits.

    Re: April Project: Memories

Isn't it strange what we keep?
    My Father's memories.
The china cabinet in the front room where he kept things, the cabinet was his mother's.

    Top shelf, L-R:
    My mum's coffee cups.
My mum's toothbrush, flannel & soap.
    My mum's whisky glasses.
    My mum's soup bowls.
    My mum's keyring clip.
My mum's ashtray, with her last few cigarette butts.
    My grandmother's vase (William Schiller & Son WS&S 2113)

    Middle shelf, L-R:
    My mum's favourite flower vase.
    Two mugs
    My mum's butterfly wooden box
    Ashtray
    Christmas bells from Germany
Caterpillar my mum used for storytelling at school
    Leather leaves.
    China bell decoration.
    My mum's moth pattern thimble.
My mum's butterfly bookmark in mug
    George V commemoration cup/saucer
    Denbeigh promotional coffee mug
    Just some china

    Bottom row, L-R:
    Assorted stuff
    My grandmother's biscuit barrel
    My mum's 3 elephants
    Roses from my cousin's wedding
    Flowers from my cousin's wedding

    Base of cabinet, L-R:
    Assorted German wine glasses
Last remaining horse shot glass of a set
    Eggcups (why?)
Present on my mother's retirement made by the class (kinda fishy)
Reckitt's blue from my grandmother's cupboard
Greek woman statue I brought back from holiday
Ronson table lighter (I remember being in the house for ever)
My mum's bug magnifier viewer (used at school for lessons)

Well, my take"Memories" was a bit different. There's nothing like a train station, for me, to bring back Memories.

    Re: April Project: Memories

Last season during my son's senior year we brought my Dad to almost every home game. B4 each home game the seniors give a special person in the audience their jersey. I just happened to catch this moment by luck of my son giving my Dad his jersey. These games meant every to my Dad and he was so blown away that night.

He died a few months later (Jan. 20th 08). I thank God everyday for these shots.

    Re: April Project: Memories

Hey Ok. Another challenging assignment. I think the war-memorial is very relevant/poignant. Thanks for posting it....

The attached image may be on topic. What I was trying to capture is a concept of time marching on... but some things do not change. The rose is past it's prime suggesting the passage of time. Likewise the people in the photos are now much older. Their younger images, however, are frozen in time by the photographs. Likewise, the love of one's child is also timeless. I guess that means memories (in addition to the frailty of it all)....

    Re: April Project: Memories

Before my oldest son went away to college we took a family trip to Hawaii. We spent a couple days at Maui and they cruised the islands. This is the first time my son walked up to and took in a Maui beach b4 diving in. This is such a good memory.

    Re: April Project: Memories

    Some great photos so far.

I don't have any photos to post, but I wanted to say that this month has been full of memories for me. I got to shoot my girlfriend's father's 50th birthday party...first time to cover an event. And, two of my best friends are getting married, one has already. I was not the wedding photographer, nor will I be for the other, but I have been doing my best to document the surrounding events (showers, rehearsals, and where allowed, the bachelor parties). I'm also trying to provide some contrast to the all-digital photographers by shooting some grainy B&W film at the weddings. Unfortunately I'm so busy with all of this, I don't have time to develop any of it. But by the time the second wedding is over in a few weeks, I'll have one huge backlog of memories. I just wish this category was for May.

    Re: April Project: Memories

Every Christmas Day I go see my mom and dad not because I want to talk to them but to remember them. Christmas was my moms favorite holiday, she spent all of dad's money buying stuff for us kids and grand kids. Mom died 10 years ago April 15th dad 5 years ago August 29th. They were two peas in a pot, perfect couple. That is my wife in the photo my daughter is out of the picture in front of the head stone cleaning it up some. we stop in from time to time to plant flowers and pull weeds. A time to remember.

Thanks, I may have another go this year and try to put a series together.
I tried the 300mm there for the first time and loved the results.
