Cool What I bought today instead of a 20 inch iMac Intel coreduo

I needed the riding mower far more than an iMac, and it's almost as much fun. I only got a fourth of my 6 acres done, but there's still tomorrow morning. Cost just a bit more than an iMac, but less than the equivalent John Deere, with 2 more horsepower (same engine make and design-Briggs and Stratton). Now to get the matching cup that locks down into the built in cup holder. It even comes with a lighter plug and cell phone holder Got it at Lowe's, where they were selling like a new Harry Potter release. There were three of these when I got there. I got the last one I'll take a real picture of my new toy tomorrow, but this link will have to do for now

Nope. But I bet it'd be cheaper than real gas
Just got done mowing the more visible half of my 6 acres. Still have 2/3's of a tank left (it's a 5 gallon tank), put 2.2 miles on my Husqee so far. Here's a pic of the real deal.

I got a new rider three weeks ago, the day my old rider blew up. I got the elcheapo Bolens at Lowes. Even at that it takes 1/8th the gas and 1/2 the time to cut the grass now. The old Craftsman is sitting in the yard taking up space, at least till I find another motor for it and then it will be my "Yard Tow Truck" which save the lawn as driving a 6,400lb truck on the soggy yard is tough on the yard. The ruts just don't go away My yard is so bad I got the new mower stuck the second time I mowed, and it didn't look wet in that spot.

There were a couple of soggy spots where I made some ruts too. Almost got stuck a couple of times cutting too close to the pond. What I hate is missing a rock in the grass-nothing like having to dismantle the mower and sharpen blades-echh.

Re: What I bought today instead of a 20 inch iMac Intel coreduo

Fortunately i don't have a rock problem unless I mowe the driveway , but I do have to dodge doggie toys and run over a zillion pinecones which sometimes sound like rocks. I cheat for doing sharpening and other undercarriage service. I built a ramp and sharpen the blades with a die grinder (air powered) without removing them. OK, I'm lazy I guess I "could" use the impact and take the blades off....but why bother when it takes one quick pass to knock off the nicks
I really am lazy, there is only a half acre to mowe, but I can't push a mower that far

Whatch out for those ponds! A guy at the campground drove a new mower into a lake

Wow. Thanks for the tip. Next time I pass by the auto parts store, I'll pick up some ramps, and get a grinding stone for my cordless drill.

This is the mower I use to cut my schools atheletic fields. 6ft cut, can cut a soccer field in less than 30 mins. Baseball in 45.

Leon, as long as you check and change the oil and keep the air filter clean ,that machine will last much longer than a computer ;) I know because I was a small engine mechanic for 4 years.Lowes makes a mint on those machines because they buy warehouses full at a time !

Sweet. How does it do crunching small branches and brush? Tricycle design though...might not be suitable for uneven terrain and 10-15 degree inclines. Otherwise, 72 inch cut...that would cut my mowing time in half. :-)

Thanks Paul. Definitely plan on keeping up this baby. I don't want to buy another one of these for 10 years-I'd rather buy computers and camera gear. :-)

Small brachches aren't really a problem, and it is rated for an incline of 30 degrees, but I have done a little at 40 degrees. Its pretty stable and I forgot to mention we also have a 7 foot version as well. Gotta love the husky too.

Yeah, that thing'll do small branches easily. We had a smaller ride-on once, and it could handle all kinds of stuff I thought it wouldn't.
That's a good machine, and you can't go wrong with the Briggs & Stratton engines, they're great.
