Are some PC cards better than others?

I want to get a PC card so I can go wireless with my laptop. I know I need an 802.11g card and I have found several of them ranging in price from $20-$100 on newegg.com.

My biggest question, is there a big differance in them? I see there are some that are up to 54Mbps and some that are up to 108Mbps. The faster speed would be nice, but is that dependent on the wireless hub that I have? It would be a waste to spend more $ on the 108Mbps card, if the hub I have will only put out 54Mbps. I don't know the specs on my hub, but can check when I get home.

Most of the faster cards only work with thier hubs, you're right.
If it's faster then 54Mbps then it's cheating
Well at lest it's not sticking to the standard, and so compatbility at that speed is unlikely.
They should all work together at 54M but sometimes they don't play nice.

We had huge problems at a Microsoft conference for 2 days until they reloaded the hub firmware because it only worked with their cards - oops ! What do you say to 5000 angry geeks other than sorry (and run away) until they could isolate the cause.

Thanks for the info PAul. I just did some looking and it turns my laptop what I need already built into it, so I don't need to get a card.
