    Software for Linux ?

    I'm a Unix Guy, I run Linux. so I was wondering what good software is out there for Linux ? I am Currently using "the Gimp" which isn't bad , but I was wondering what else is there out there that is any good ?

    The software for photo work on Linux is very weak. Gimp is about the best but it lacks quite a few things that are taken for granted on PCs and Macs. The biggest problem with Gimp/Linux is the lack of color management. That costs licensing money! Yeah, there is a color management project out there but its weak and full of bugs. Plus, no one really supports it.

    Some people have gotten Picture Window Pro (excellent!) to run under Wine. I don't know if there are current versions of PhotoShop that run well in emulation mode.

    You might want to dual boot for your image work.
