    First Attempt at Photo Restoration

My wifes father passed this week and she and her sister wanted a family photo for part of the memorial. The only one they had was badly damaged. It was not framed and had been kept in a basement. It was stained from water and bleed through and had rips and creases. I am fairly new at photoshop but thought I'd give it a shot. The resulting photo took 7 hours (with breaks). I was just happy that I was able to come up with a decent 5x7 print.

Looks good to me. If I hadn't seen the original I wouldn't scrutinize the kids dresses as much, but that pattern on them is tough to fix I bet.

The pattern on both dresses was lost in major areas due to age and damage. I tried to replicate it but in the end blown out looked better so I just had to go with that. Thanks for the comment.

I think it seven hours on one photo is a long time but I also think your efforts were worth the trouble.

Thanks Frog, the rip/crease through the girls eye on the left and the large stain on the girls dress on the right were what took the most time. Lots of redo's and breaks and learning going on.

Sorry to hear about your wifes father - what you did with the photo is great. Something I am sure your wife and sister will cherish for ever to have that photo fixed. Yes 7 hours is a long time on 1 photo but I am sure they are very appreciative of your time and efforts with the ending result looking so good!
