Fireworks MX, Defaults to gif in export, Would rather default to JPG

I want to have Fireworks automatically export my images as JPGs so I dont have to go through the slow export wizard. (I dont like the quality loss in GIFs)

Is there a way to make it so it defaults to exporting as JPG in the File>Export Dialogue?

Re: Fireworks MX, Defaults to gif in export, Would rather default to JPG

When you have the image open look down the bottom well it is bottom of my window for properties. There is a drop down box there under the word canvas, image looks like an upside down magnet. There you can change the image to jpg and then use export it comes up with jpg as the extersion.

Other than that, there doesn't appear to be a way of changing it to something other than the default of gif.

Hopefully you have found the answer by now, but here it is:

Presetting Stroke, Fill, Effect and View
Note that although you can preset the Stroke, Fill, Effect and View menu settings, you won't be able to preset other settings such as slices.

    Creating a Fireworks defaults file
    1

Launch Fireworks and choose File > New to set up a new document. Set the new document to the size and dimensions which you will use for the files that will share the default settings.
    2

Set the Stroke, Fill, Effect and View menu settings to be used in all of the files.
3 Choose File > Save As to save the file. This will open the Save dialog box.
    4

    Name the file:

    Fireworks Defaults.PNG
    5

Save this file in a Presets folder, as follows:
    > Fireworks 2 or 3
In the Save dialog box, click on the New Folder Icon to create a new folder in the Fireworks > Settings folder. Name this new folder Presets.
    > Fireworks 4
The Presets folder already exists in the Fireworks 4/ Configuration folder.
    >

    Fireworks MX
The Presets folder already exists in the Application Data (Windows) or the per user Application Support (Macintosh) folder under Macromedia/Fireworks MX folder.
6 Quit Fireworks and relaunch the program. This allows Fireworks to load these new presets.
7 Create a new document by choosing File > New. Strokes, Fills, Effects and the View menu settings are already set to your liking in the new document.
