Question Copying from computer to card reader

Being new at this, DSLR stuff, I want to get some prints from the local print shop before I think in terms of buying a photo printer. I have a 256 kb card that will suffice for this for now.

I want to copy some images from my computer to a CF card in a card reader. Do I need to use some of the Canon software that came with my Digital 350D, Photoshop Elements 4, or can I just drag and drop them from their Windows (XP) folder to the CF card in the card reader.

I suspect this is a basic question, but I am new to this digital world. Any insight that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I use ACDSee to to my photo moving/cataloging and all that stuff, using Explorer in WinXP works just fine.
