colorspace and printers.

I have been having more and more problems with getting accurate prints on my printer since ive started using adobe RGB colorspace. colors, contrast, and tones in general all come out completely unpredictably. i dont know what to do! Can i convert to SRGB?

any insight on my dillema would be much appreciated.

Several questions:

1. Were the originals taken in Adobe RGB or something else? (RAW or sRGB or ??)
2. Have you profiled everything in the chain (Camera, Monitor, Etc.)?
3. What printer are you using?
4. If you are printing your own, are you using the right printer profile? I messed up some prints when I used the wrong printer and paper profiles and the colors were muddy and off enough to be quite noticeable.
5. You could take a couple of samples to somebody else to print and make sure some other factor has not changed.
6. Have you tried new ink, or if you are using separate inks, one color isn't low or old? I've seen ink batches vary enough that in color rich photos, with an old color or two, or different batches it may vary enough to be noticeable.

Yes, you can convert to sRGB as it is a much smaller color space than ADOBE.

If you started with sRGB from the camera (a JPEG for example) and tried to convert to A-RGB you will experience several issues.

You might want to even post two or three examples.

ah it started out in adobe RGB in camera. im using a canon ip6600D. found out a big road block - "image optimizer" was on. strange, i never remember it being on before and i never use it. but naturally that was changing my images enough to make me say - abuh!?

everything in the chain is profiled, things are working much better now!!
