    Longevity

Gary, I'm glad to hear you like your printer. I'm curious to know what kind of print longevity you're getting out of it? I've looked at Canon's site but can't find any specs regarding that topic.

Ive seen them claim 25 + years with their photo paper pro paper, as long as the print is cared for and out of the sunlight. And supposedly pretty good as well with their other papers. I am printing on the Matte paper and am spraying the surface with a shield intended for protecting prints and have read from an expert in archival imaging that this does improve duration considerably. Btw, Kodak is really getting serious with their line of inkjet papers and has a paper out now called Ultima photopaper and their claim is 100 years on any dye inkjet printer with the latest dyes. This is a high glossy paper that I have tried and have seen excellent results on this printer. It is not an instatnt dry paper and you have to let it dry properly before handling. But the sharpness and colors are excellnt, as good as canons photo paper pro.

What kind of spray are you using? Or rather, could you share the brand name please?

Yes, I've seen that Kodak paper too and plan to get some soon!

The brand of spray I have been using now is called "ImageShield" by Lumijet. There are a few other sparays that are for the same purpose. This one does not alter the surface appearance at all. I am going to try another that will give me a very mild satin or lustre to the surface. I bought this one from Adorama, but have noticed that most photo and art supply stores carry these products. It must be intended for ink jet prints.
