    Batch Image Resizing?

I'm looking for a way to resize multiple images or pictures at one time so I can publish them or email them. My pictures are all over 8mb and takes too long to email/upload. Is there a way to make them all smaller?

There is plenty of programs that you can use to do that. I use either Photoshop ($$$$) or a program called ACDSee (can't remember the price offhand). You can do them in either batches or individually. There is a couple free programs, but I can't think of what they are off the top of my head.

Try this one. It is mirrored on several sites so it's easy to get. Many other features as well.

I'd be cautious of the "free" software...

I use Picshare Image Resizer and Editor for all my batch and single image resizing. It's quick and easy.

(It can also add text or watermarks while resizing which I use the most)

    the website is:
    http://www.abmartin.com/ps/

It has full functionality for 2 weeks then it cost around $15 bucks. If you don't like just uninstall it afterwards...

    My two cents...

    Re: Batch Image Resizing?

Thanks to everyone for the great responses and suggestions. Like others I've tried many of the "free wares" or solutions over the internet and wasn't impressed. After messing with the Picshare trial, I decided to go with it. I especially liked how easily I could specify the image size (e.g. I could choose email large, medium, etc) as opposed to having to enter the resolution myself. I also liked how I could add watermarks to my images. Now I can add text directly to my images for my family members to see.

Again thanks to all that contributed!

I'm glad this was brought up. I had thought it would be nice, but didn't even know it was possible. I've since discovered that even Photoshop Elements has that feature.

    Hello.
I just started using the PicShare Image Resizer and Editor program you recommended. I actually like it a lot. It's so simple. (Espcially that it's free).

    Thanks for helping me.

I downloaded this one before deciding to go with the PicShare Image Resizer and Editor program. Although I liked the simplicity of PRM, I liked all the resizing options I could get with the picshare program.

If you just compare the two programs strictly by batch processing:

picshare was about 5 times faster than PRM
picshare had more options to control the quality of the images
picshare had more default resizing options
PRM didn't resize all my image types
PRM screwed up the colouring in some of my images

What it also comes down to is $$$. PRM is free and picshare costs about $15 after the trial ends. If you can afford $15 then I'd say go picshare, otherwise use PRM.

    My two cents...

    Talking Re: Batch Image Resizing?

This is EASY with Photoshop!...create a "Droplet"

    INSTRUCTIONS:
    http://www.heathrowe.com/tuts/droplets.asp

    Photoshop
comes with a cool little web graphic program called "ImageReady". Open this program up. Looks almost exactly like PS, but used for web friendly graphics. You can open up one of your images, then set up the program to record "actions" on that image. You want to outline all the steps you want to perform on your batch first. I usually create a droplet in a folder and then drag all my images onto this droplet and it resizes and creates smaller web copies of all my photos. I also add multiple actions, like a small sharpen, redeye, auto levels, crop, resampling, and others in the steps I want it to do.

Once you are done, save your droplet. It creates a small .EXE file you can them cut and past into a folder on your PC. Just select multiple photos and drag and drop onto this executable droplet and it will open ImageReady and run through your actions and resize and clean them up automatically. You can go get a cup of coffee while it does its magic. Its the best batch processor Ive found....and its free, if you already have Photoshop.

After batching my photos, I then use website product on my site called ImageIsland - Image Web Software - giantisland.com to then upload these images and share them online using either email or a web page from my website online. The images are easy to upload to my site because they have been sized down for faster web delivery.

    Try Droplets! They are easy!
