    Basic Digital Imaging Software Options

My demands are light: crop, resize, change file format, red eye, light and contrast, fix exposure, maybe layers sometime and limited PS Curves functionality.

    Any recommendations?

Photoshop Elements 5.0 has been removed from my system. The Organizer really wants to be involved and PE5 causes system problems on shutdown.

    Thanks for any guidance...Bill

I use Picture Windfow Pro, a package that is aimed specifically at photographers instead of graphic arts pros. It's also less than $100. There is a non-pro version that is even cheaper. I get happier and happier with this software all the time. It is different than PhotoShop but much more logical than PS after you get used to it. There is a free full-featured 30-day demo at:

You might also want to check out Photofiltre. It's a freeware program that works quite well. Here's the link.

    Recommendations are appreciated.

    I will review both applications.

I just installed the freeware program IrfanView, and I'm very happy with it.http://www.irfanview.com/
