Is anyone using iPod Photo with a Mac and DSLR?

Is anyone using the new iPod Photo with a DSLR and a Mac? I just got the new iPod along with a card reader that plugs into it. I hope to be able to use it as a "digital wallet" while I'm out shooting on vacation, and be able to avoid having to stop and download everything to my computer at home before I can reuse the card.

How is the workflow? Do you *have* to use iPhoto or Photoshop Elements in order to manage the images or get them off the iPod? I'm a little afraid of rebuilding my entire workflow around this device, but I will if I have to.

    What have been your experiences?

We had a discussion about this a while ago, regarding image tanks and someone was using his iPod for this purpose.

Thanks! Of course, that discussion's been over 6 months ago. I wonder if the Belkin speed is any better. I bought a card reader but I could take it back and purchase the direct-from-camera option instead, unless that's by Belkin, too...

True but it is a starting point of reference as well. You should be able to contact the person who has the iPod and ask some further questions maybe that might be helpful.

I've thought of going the same route but...

My brother in law (the computer guy) said that as far as reviews go, it uses a LOT of the iPod's battery to transfer the images. There is a direct from camera transfer thing ou can get now, it's supposed to be faster, but I don't know about the power drain from it.
