    From Zion

Here's another one from my recent trip, this time from Zion. Please let me know what you think.

    Thanks,

    Re: From Zion

A great scene and subject Paul. good contrast and good idea to leave the space for the sky at top. My one strongest concern here is i feel that it would have ben that much better had you included more of the bottom of the tree in the fg, kind of like cutting off ones feet in a full vertical picture.
    Good image none the less.

I agree with Gary but wanted to say that it's a super shot.

    Great shot!

I love the texture and contrast... it's almost like elephant skin or something. Really wild looking! The only thing is that while it's in focus, I would say it could still be sharper. I would use the old High Pass / Overlay mode trick on this one...

    Re: From Zion

Thanks Gary, D, and PJ, for taking the time to comment.

Gary, I see what you're saying about the trees. Thanks for mentioning that, because I didn't notice. I think it might have been hard to avoid though, because if I show the base of one tree, I'll still be chopping another one off midway. But, I guess it's better to show one or two than none. Something for me to think about next time...

PJ, this was shot with film, and then scanned by my lab. I'd like it to be sharper, but I'm not sure what to do about it. Part of the problem is the resize, but I don't know what else it could be. Sometimes I get really sharp pictures with this lens...sometimes, not so much. Could it be the scanning? I'm I doing something wrong? I don't know what this means: "I would use the old High Pass / Overlay mode trick on this one..." If this is a PhotoShop thing, please explain. I just got PS, and I still have a lot to learn.

    Thanks again for your comments.

    Paul
