    Your opinion?

Please give me all of your thoughts, and observations.

These are not the highest resolution.

I'm a beginner photographer experimenting with lighting, and different editing techniques in photoshop cs3, and paint shop pro.

I'd like critiques from both sides of the camera. A photographer's point of view, and what you would like to see if the picture was of you (or your child) and you'd paid to have these taken. My ultimate goal is to improve my technique and style, and be the best that I can be.

    Your help is appreciated!

The b/w works and the tones are good.
The composition is too tight, I think, especially on the bottom.
Maybe should be a portrait format

Love the emotion of this one! The overall tones and softness (but not too soft) are pleasing. For me, the composition is not too tight except at the bottom. I like the intimacy the tight crop accentuates. If you could include some of the baby's shoulder, I'm sure a client would be very happy with the results.

Beautiful B/W with perfect lighting that captures a mood and says something. Compliment the model.
I understand why you wanted to get close. The difference between a regular snapshot and a good pictures is distance. But it is too tight, with wasted space on the sides, and I believe would be better as a vertical. That could be taken even a little closer and would get rid of that scapula bump on the woman.

    Re: Your opinion?

Welcome to the site. I think this is the best image that you posted so far. It shows a lot of emotion and the B&W treatment works very well.

On a side note. Many members on the forum view these images at work. Please post a warming in the subject line of your post if there is anything potentially offensive in your images. I'm not saying that I find your images offensive, but some people mind not find them appropriate for viewing at work. Something as simple as "Warning: Implied Nudity" or "NSFW" or something along those lines is all that would be needed. Again, I don't find your images offensive at all, but they could cross the line for others at work. I really don't think this image needs a warning, but perhaps the image of the woman in front of the mirror should have one.

Again, welcome to the site, and I look forward to seeing more of your work.
