    For your consideration

I'm learning how to use my new soft boxes, and trying to figure out what iso/f-stop etc. will work and still give me a decent dof.

Anyway, our little corgi-mix "Winnie", also known as her royal highness was impressed into service. I was not trying for good pics so much as seeing what I got if you know what I mean. Still, these two crops turned out to be keepers. I like the Mona Lisa smile in the head on shot, but the wife thinks the shadow side is too dark.
    Opinions are welcome.

I think they're both just precious! Technically your honey is right about that left section in shadow. BUT...that sidelong glance of hers makes it work! She is thinking shadowy thoughts and so the dark shadowing may actually work. She's a beauty!!

Very cute doggie...we have a corgi, and I've always loved the big ear effect...hehe.
I don't mind the shadowy side too much...and like D said, the expression goes well with it.

Beautiful dog and beautiful pictures. I will third the vote and agree with all that's been said so far. Lucky you with your new equipment. Enjoy it!

    Re: For your consideration

Thanks for the comments! I told the wife she was right I think that I have a tendancy to set the light too evenly, so this was an attempt to counter that. I'll compromise and lighten it a little next time. This is really a challenge for me. I'm normally taking pictures of running dogs outdoors, or candid photos where you take what you can get. Now I have to develop some actual skills? Too fun.
