I like the concept and the feel, but find both arrows pointing to the same spot distracting - it's like they are saying "look right here" but there's not much going on at that point. If the arrows had been further apart or the one in the BG on a different plane (higher or lower) it might have been more effective.

Overall an interesting image with good potential

I have a fondness for 'light' photos and this one works fine.
I think the arrows pointing at each other is just what you wanted.
I might like it better if it were wider.

I think this work pretty great, but I do agree that the proximity of the arrows is a little too close.

I like it a lot (as usual). Never would have even seen this shot myself. I love the opposing arrows. Nice tonal range and dof. What's your preferred b/w conversion technique?

Liban - decent artsy shot. I love your use of DOF. I didn't even notice the background sign until I read Cath's writeup. The one thing that hurts the image though is its lack of purpose, as someone may ask "Ok, so what's the point?", for it is just a shot of a sign on a street. Alas, I still like it from an artistic standpoint.

Your title clarifies the logic of the shot and tells the story very well. How often our local public works department have put up signs with arrows pointing to ??? blast if if know what they had in mind??? This is a shot that I wouldn't have thought to capture but I am certainly glad you did!

Thank you for sharing this one with us.

Thanks for the great feed back all. appreciated.

Seth, I actually shot this in the in-camera black & White option. Then I tweeked the levels in photoshop to get the blacks a little more black and add a bit of contrast.
