    Re: yet another cross

I like the first one personally, the backlit lighting looks great in black and white. The silhouette effect on the second, especially near the base, looks fake and unrealistic (maybe too much processing?) and the trees on the right are a tad distracting.

    Nice shots though,

    Re: yet another cross

I was wondering about the bottom shot...would it have been possible to get closer to the church and shoot up at a steeper angle a little bit to get more sky and less trees?

    Re: yet another cross

I guess I could get closer, but then the bare limbs wouldn't be there, or the clouds. I was trying for a "dark" feel with it. As for overprocessing, all I did was a conversoin, didn't even play with levels or anything....

Thanks for taking time to look/comment.

    Re: yet another cross

I like the first one best. It seems to glow, really looks dramatic in its own way. The second one is OK but the cross is so small in comparison to the rest of the image. The steple seems too overpowering in comparison, almost gothic. Might have been oversharpened a bit, cause I can see some artifacts (or whatever they call those things).

Crosses are OK with me btw. Keep posting em

    Re: yet another cross

I prefer the first one over the second one but feel the later has more possibility.

Churches and religious imagery are all very worth subjects. Lots of possibilities usually. I've shot alot of them over the years one way and another.

The second photo needs some contrast work in the sky. It is the kind of thing where applying a mask might help tremendously in adjustment. Also you might consider when composing to place the steeple other than dead center. I see some blobs that are obviously tree branches that may have suffered from resizing.

Other than that, the cross and steeple have potentially a very good shape and proportion for making a good photo. I'll watch for more of these.

Thanks for the comments, I wasn't sure what was wrong with them, but you all helped a great deal.
