    Yellow and Purple

There was an article in a photography on how to create velvia colors with your digital camera. It involves a lot with the channel mixer.
    What do you think?

    For me, it looks overdone.
Unless the original exposure had the yellow washed out to start with.
The blues haven't come out of it well either, looking a little patchy.

While it is overdone, I still think that it depends on what your intent was. As an artistic representation, I like it. It doesn't look natural, but still fun. And I love your DOF on this. It makes the flower appear to be floating in the foreground.

If your intent was to come up with rich colors (ala Velvia) that are still natural, then maybe tweaking it a bit is in order to lessent the impact.

Oh, and an easier way that I've cdome to doing the velvia without so much work is to use Fred Miranda's Velvia Vision. I got tired of playing with channel mixer and trying to save a million actions so I found this to be much easier with similar results. Give it a shot. It's reasonably cheap too.

The saturation is too high, even for Velvia.

I tend to agree with D on this one, as an artistic attempt, I like it.

As the stated intent was to duplicate Velvia-like colors, I have to agree that this is way overdone. Though, it could be that your monitor is calibrated differently (...or not calibrated at all) making you see the image as less saturated. Tuning it down to lessen the impact and show better detail, especially in the yellow areas, might better duplicate a saturated-slide effect.

Xsport, out of curiousity: Are you using a laptop? I use a laptop for 99% of my post-processing but it's a tricky thing because it's very dependent on your angle of view. Often, images that look great on my laptop screen wind up being way too dark or overly bright when y'all view 'em. So, I was just wondering...
