    Yellow lichen

Here is a recent macro i took, today actually. Think it came out just how i wanted it, but as always, i'm sure you all will have some ideas as to what needs to change in this shot.

    Thanks for your comments Jarrod

    Jarrod,

Interesting shot. I like the yellow and overall subject. I think you have a winner, a least from a color perspective. Overall composition is pretty good, also

One thing that strikes me as needing improvement is a better main subject area. The focal pt is the front where a few yellow/orange 'leaves' area. The area behind it is out of focus (this is good). This naturally draws one's attention to the focused area, but it might need a little more something to make it strong enough to be the subject (??)

Perhaps if you zoomed in closer to the focused area it might actually be strong enough. Try cropping in to the pic, reducing the size to about 1/2 the area... see what you get. I tried it a little for ya here.. Might be better if you work from a larger image though.

    Hope this helps --- Gb

I like the crop Jezz but I think the color went over the top.

I like the other shot too, but feel its really challenging on the viewer to figure out where to look and sort out what's going on. Its pretty much split in half between foreground and (out of focus) background, but the cool colors are so alluring in the background that they make me keep looking at it instead of the foreground.

Ahh.. finally figured it out. The yellow has a orange tint to it and blue and orange are complementary colors. This tends to make both colors appear to vibrate (depends on who you ask though). Its alluring. Guess that shows that I like color.

Actually, you have a lot of colors here: blue, green, yellow, orange, white, and red. Could be an art class assignment

Thanks for posting these. They're fun to look at and critique. - GB
