    Writing on the Wall

A little graffiti at the end of the Berkeley pier.

    Thoughts?

    Re: Writing on the Wall

Someday archeologists are going to find this stuff and interpret it as spiritual inscriptions by some ancient society.
I think this is pretty good but would crop out the sky above the top plank/log. I'd be tempted to crop out to the top of the planks, leaving no sky but leaving it helps with context.
I think the rest works fine.

I like this. It's colorful and grungy. I would also crop from the top to the plank, but leave the space at the bottom of the plank there.
    Looks good

Yep - delightfully grungy with a wonderful quality of light on it. I have to agree though that the suggested top crop would be best.

    Cheers

Yes indeed, crop out the sky above the last plank but leave that little gap of sky in the frame. I do like the very saturated colors.

    Nice.
    No, I DON'T need that.

Thanks for the feedback. I like the crop suggestion and will give it a try.

Frog - what makes you think these aren't spiritual inscriptions? The First Church of Grunge - Services every Friday night after dark. Bring your own paint.

    Re: Writing on the Wall

PC - Is this unaltered? It looks manipulated/ over processed to me, or at least over-saturated. If so, I think it would be better either even more processed - making it art vs pure photography - or less so, making it classical.

As for the shot, the graffiti is neat but not sure about the composition. You have two main objects in the foreground and that they're equally placed in the frame. I've been told by an interior decorator that even numbers don't work. I think in this shot I would have to agree - too much tension in the foreground there.

GB - I didn't do much on the post processing here. It was shot with a polarizer and is really quite colorful on its own.

Thanks for the insight on the composition. I have also heard that even numbers don't work, but I'm not sure what I can add to balance things out a bit.
