The bird really sets this photo off Greg. The whole scene works really well.

My only "problem" is the colour, it seems a little off. I noticed it more so in the sky. Was it deliberate?

Yes Danic, I desaturated the background some to bring out the cab. That is one reason I posted it. To see if it worked.

I like this one a lot and I do think the slight desaturation works, and is a better alternative than oversaturating the cab. That building on the left looks like it has tons of great possibilities for future shoots as well

This has a high impact and I think that your approach works well, both the scattered truck parts in the foreground and the smashed windows in the distance really make this scene work for me. I would like to see more shots of this scene from different angles, perhaps taken closer to the ground as well, I think this composition works very well (and may well be the best option overall) though and the bird just adds an additional element to the overall shot.

I think it works especially with the scavenger bird there.
I would also like to see different angles.
    What was that thing?

I like this alot Greg. Excellent composition. All the elements are working in this. Good sky, light, and placement against the background elements. I like the desaturation here, but just think you could add some contrast to get a little more pop.
This is really a real cool find and capture. The bird is also a treat. Love the decrepid building behind it as well. the whole place looks like a wreck. Very nice.

    This is great Greg.
The wreck almost has a robotic face and there is a wonderful starkness about it all. You almost expect it all to fit back together comfortably.
You always seem to come upon the most interesting places that always provides you with an interesting shot.

    Re: Wreck of the Englander

I like the subject, I like the desaturation of the backround,

I don't like the wall on the right, it's distracting & takes my eye away from the center of interest & the centering of the truck. I think the composition would have benefited from shooting so the wall was flattened, the side and the front of the truck were in the pic, and the building was over the backround of the cab with the bird more in the right corner.

Interesting as hell subject and one I'd like to have the time to shoot in different light and from different angles.

    Re: Wreck of the Englander

Thanks all I guess the desaturation works.
Len, I shot this with a 15mm wide angle and generally I will correct distortions but this one is as it was. I went back when I thought the lighting was a little better but the wreck was gone.
Frog, This is the cab of a semi just behind where I work. Not sure where it came from.
Jetrim, I agree I would love to get into the place but it has been recently been sealed up tight as a drum.

    Re: Wreck of the Englander

I like it very much Greg. It has a journalistic either war torn or disaster type of feel to it. It's like u've shot it in Chernobyl after that disaster. I think it could use a bit more contrast. I like that yo've caught the bird in there as well. it def. adds to the shot.

    Re: Wreck of the Englander

Hmmmmmm.. Not sure here. I can't decide if I like it or not. It's a worthy subject but I think I would have shot it from an asymmetric angle, perhaps from a lower angle too, and gotten more of that old building in on the left. Black and white?

    Re: Wreck of the Englander

Thanks GB, I tried a few more angles but in the long run I liked the bird and being able to read Englander on the cab. But point well taken.
