    Re: with or wothout

I vote without. I don't feel as drawn in as I do on the second image and there doesn't seem to be the continuity, the energy, in the first that exists in the second for me. The second has the stairs leading the eye in, then the silver of the handrail, which is mimicked in the curve of the archway. My eye doesn't recognize the large glass wall as a glass wall but as a continuation of the concrete. And the arch leads to another arch, and the bits of silver are like accents to complement the handrail. I realize it's another handrail, but unlike the first (where the handrails seem to clash against one another) in this one, the ones in the distance are more subtle suggestions.

You have two different images -- if you had taken the same one with and w/o a polarizer then I could say. They're really very different. - GB

I agree with GB, it's kind of comparing apples with oranges. Even though this is urban photography, and something I usually enjoy, these two pics do nothing for me be it they have not central subject. Whether it was a piece of garbage, a person, or something, it would have made this picture alot better IMO.

Nice background for a subject however

Between the two images, I like the one without the reflection . It is easier to look at in that the composition is cleaner, simple, and balanced. The image with the reflection feels to busy right away, and much less inviting.

    WIthout for me.

The gaps/holes between the staircases add a different perspective to this shot which I like. I think it would've worked better if you shot it from a bit higher level so we can see all the handrails as well.

Without. The result is cleaner and abstract. It has better lines for the eye to follow.

With the reflection it becomes confusing and distracting.

    without, no contest.

crop to just above the top of the handrail, and straighten it up slightly, and you have a lovely image (imo)

    cheers
