nice timing, I would remove the green and purple caused by the sun/lens, though

have you tried cloning out the tree in the top left corner?

    Re: Worth the print? opinions...

one option would be careful selection and then use the clone tool (the selection is so that you don't paint into the sky)

another option is rough selection and feather, then hue/saturation... i would try to desaturate the spots and then adjust the lightness as needed... if that didn't work, a combination of hue/sat/lightness would probably do the trick..

It's a bit of a nitpick, but this is overall an excellent photo. aside from the nit pickiness, I would prefer if the sun was behind that grouping of trees to break up the major brightness shock, although this probably isn't a common scene that you can just reshoot and the perfect position of the bird, dog jumping, seagull, people, etc. is too good to make this a throwaway

    Re: Worth the print? opinions...

The only problem is the change in the top left but I'm not expert enough to know how to fix it.
    Did you shoot raw?
This is a nice capture and I wouldn''t worry about it much.
Do what you can and get that print.

    Thanks Frog.
I just noticed how the top left corner image can be pretty distracting.... I gotta find a way to get rid of that too i supose. oh boy.... time for some ps...
Or if there is anyone out there that are really good, ill be glad to send over the full image to get it right =)
That clone stamp tool is a bit tricky, but even though, sometimes the colors seem to be very hard to match all the way through.

Just to be clear, I don't think you need to remove the palm in upper left and only that the color shift in that area is very slightly distracting.
If you haven't done much printing you may be amazed at how much better a print looks than they do on the web.

oh icic. thanks Frog for your opinions....
Well eitherway, i will try to remove that green on the left side of the tree...., kinda getting to me now haha.
Do you guys think 10.2 mp is good enough to have a very clear 13x19 print?
Is there any way to improve quality to print in that size?

largest ive printed is 20X20 with my 10.2mp d200. it turned out great, although it was on canvas. id say your good though. alot depends on the photograph itself and how sharp it is, how much detail etc.

Petershin, for me the color isn't as distracting as the palm tree itself, you could try removing it to see if that helps. I LOVE the photo, even with the flare from the sun.

I know the "blemish" tool helps really well after a clone for good blending. I'm only beginning to learn the basics of the clone tool but looking at this shot it shouldn't be too difficult for a digital. Now, would you be able to see it when you blow it up? That I'm not too sure about!

I've printed 10.2 MP to 30x20's and it could have probably gone bigger than that, it was very very clear/sharp.

    Re: Worth the print? opinions...

Thanks guys.... i will be playing with the photo a little bit tonight... that green on the left tree is kinda getting to me... haha. Will wake up early tomorrow to get this sucker printed. Thanks for those that gave me some of your 2 cents. =) i havent used my printer for over 2 months now, i hope the ink hasn't dried up.
So what do you think its the largest you can print without too much pixelation on a 10.2 mp?

    Re: Worth the print? opinions...

you can do any size you want, just at some point you start losing details. I've had 3 30x20's printed up so far at close to full resolution for my 10.2MP camera without any issues.

I didn't adjust anything on my photos, but from what I've read, the consensus is to over sharpen them before having them printed. Good luck

Oh, btw, i didn't adjust anything on the pic... getting that green and the tree out by making the color transition smooth is a pita~!
