    the woods

I had this up on my gallery for a while but thought I would put it out here for critique.
I'm hoping to put together a whole set of shots from the woods of various locations.
    What do you think?

    I like that one.
Nice exposure, good colour, and good detail in almost everything.
I've taken a number of shots in various woods and have nearly always been disappointed by them.
They are very difficult subjects,so well done!

    Re: the woods

I want the colors to be more saturated and perhaps a little warmer.

The tree limbs going out of the top of the frame keep pulling my eye out of the image.

A worthy effort, I'd go back there and shoot some more.

Gary, I like the 'woodsy' feel of this one. MB might have a point there, but the branches at the top don't really bother me.

The composition/feel is nice, but I'm afraid the colours stop it short in my opinion. Either saturate the colours or desaturate them and go for a semi-b&W but also up the contrast, play with the levels to make something eye popping. Nice shot, but it needs some work to catch up to your other shots.

I like the composition and the saturation looks fine to me. It reminds me of what leaves look like after a rain. I like the way you composed the trail too.

thanks all for your time to comment and express your thoughts on this
I usually do not like to lay heavy on the saturation. As a matter of fact, I like to desaturate somewhat. I will give this one a few goes at re edit to see if i can apply some of the suggestions and favor the results.
I will be going back to this area again, but probably in the fall when many colors should be in play.
    Thanks

I saw this in your gallery some time ago. What really gets me is how the trail doubles back. The forest feels like a forest...Calm, cool.
Excellent shadow details.I think everything feels right.
    A wonderful composition.

    Re: the woods

I like it. The detail in the shadow areas and the scale really make it for me. As for the saturation, I have never seen neon green trees, so IMHO thi is just right.

Gary, I'm no pro but I think this one is just right. I find it very pleasing. I like the color as is.

    Re: the woods

    Hello Gary
This looks real and natural to me and I would imagine your result here is a very accurate recording of what your eyes saw. I really like too, the forest floor with those nice, worn, muddy browns in the foreground and the lighter, more undisturbed surface within. Just enough sky is visible through the branches. Very pleasing and easy on the eye.
