    Wooded trail

I suppose this kind of shot is kind of a cliche' but we like it. This was taken without any kind of a support, but IS does wonders. The greens are really clipped even in the raw file. I really don't know much about composition or what constitutes a "good" photo when it comes to this kind of thing.

It is really tough to shoot a wooded trail when the sun is high. The intensity of the sun-spots are difficult to expose propery while keeping the lush greens. I suggest you return when the sun is rising or setting. A tripod will also do wonders.

Yep, we'll be going back for more, and I'll try a better time. Luckily it's two minutes from my house. We had the great idea of trying to capture that photo thru all 4 seasons, but it turns out to be closed during winter. Oh well.

Welcome to the forum. Tim is right, it is tough to get this scene in the harsh light. The bright spots along with the scattered leaves and branches amke it busy and the depth of the scene is lost. It is composed rather nicely, but a time with softer, warmer lighting will help alot.
