    Re: wonderful rust

I personally have no issues with the composition, but the blown sky bit does bother me, and the colors in the foreground seem flat, they could use some tweaking!

Now for the colors, i may get that feeling because of the contrast between these colors and the blown out sky, which helps darken them more.... I'm sure I will be corrected or clarified by someone...

    Nice shot though,

Nice composition but the lighting is going to make or break a landscape and this doesn't have good lighting. The whole image may be too dark but the foreground IS too dark.

I'd say try again with sunlight just peaking over one of those hills and illuminating the abandoned machinery.

I totally agree with the others on the darkness. I would have been a stronger picture if I could read the writing on the equipment, but the composition is dead on and I like the subject too.

    Re: wonderful rust

Sorry Rick, but I can't agree w/ everyone else that the composition is right. The subject here is the rust and instead you stepped back and got the whole scene... I think think should be an extreme close-up shot, even a macro might work. If you wanted a big picture shot, I think you need more foreshortening or try to shoot it from a higher angle. The lighting is also unattractive to me here.

Sorry to be such a sour puss!
