It really has potential! I think if the van behind her was outta there that it would really be pretty powerful and would create an isolated feel. IMO. Take a shot at PSing it out maybe, see if I'm right.
What time of the day did you take it at? It seems somewhat flat, like maybe a mid-morning or late afternoon shot. Perhaps bumping up the contrast would help, but I'm not sure.
As much as I like the negative space, I also feel that you could zoom into her a little. What often makes a shot like this work with a lot of negative space is a super interesting pose, outfit, look, or whatever of the person, which I think helps the person stand out against all the other things of a wide shot. Here, I just dont get that from her. She doesn't seem to have any mystery about her. Oh well.
I think it would be improved by either a few secondns earlier or later, as that van would be out of the shot - then the isolation and waiting would be more evident?
