A Woman and her Bike

Shot yesterday. The bike is her's, but I preferred to focus more on her than the bike in this one.

Try as I may, I could not convince her to wear more elegant footwear :10:

i like the pose. i think if a lil' more of the bike was in the picture, it'd be easier to like. but her hair, the streaks and wildness to it, made me want to try something kind of wild with it also - i would like to go for that look you'd see in SIN CITY - but this is what i got just messing with it real quick.

Theres something about her hair that cried for something ''wilder'' than black and white to me - i dont know if its just me -
but i like the picture.
Where do you do shots like these? It looks like an indoor shot, am i right ?

At the moment it seems a bit grey, I think this needs a contrast boost and a bit of brightness to bring in the gritty theme to the picture and to give it life.

I like the shoes so no problem there and an excellent pose with just the right amount of bike in the frame to give a perspective of the ladies life or likes.

One more thing there is a line going through the tank, if that could be cloned out it would be much better.

How does she like the photo?

i think it would have been more nice if it wasn't cropped. i also like to see the bike. i also want to see her riding the bike. nice shot anyway!

Good pose. I love the hair, it looks like she just got done riding. Maybe add a helmet into the shot and widen the shot to show all of the bike. Good Job.

I think the lighting is too even throughout the frame. A few shadows and a bit more darkness would add a touch of mysery and danger.

kemekal_d300 - Thks, I like your edit. I've never seen Sin City but since so many people have made reference to it here on the PR forums, then it must be a photographer's must-see.

This one was actually taken on a ground level parking garage at her work on a Saturday with almost no cars there. We faced the exit to catch the light, just far enough back were it was defused. I really take heart to that question because the more I do photography, the more I realize the ol' saying that you can find most of what you need in your own backyard is true That's especially convenient with gas so expensive lately!

Btw, what did you use for the edit??

Roger, MB - I bumped up the contrast a bit, any better..? I also cropped out the line on the b&w here. Also attaching the color for reference - it seems that converting it to b&w shows the evenness of the lighting, whereas the color hid that somewhat. And she does like it especially as a portrait.

Tyson, you must be a motorcyclist too?

Open Shutters - Will be posting more soon. Not all are this cropped. It's a toss up sometimes - too wide feels vacant, too tight and you don't see enough. I like the way her arms and legs fold in this one, I think it excuses the slight clipping.

AW - Thks, she had to touch up her hair after riding actually (helmets are tough on hair). We didn't think of the helmet to after the fact. but I don't think there was room for it here anyhow.

Looks like they raised the allowable upload size to 800 pixels - nice.

i used Adobe Light Room v 1.1 for the photo edit. im barely starting to use it, its still new. But so far its great. alot of 1 touch and your done presets.
Id' definitely reccoment it at least to try it a couple good ones -

Nice with the 2nd one, i like the new change. Original colored version isn't bad either! Love the green
