With or Without? (Warning - Nudity)

Full version or cropped? (Both are actually a crop of an original.)

    The moon is real.

I think I would go without the moon myself, great looking image! I like it.

Now this is for me so far the best from your nude series recently posted. Great warm lighting, lovely pose, and overall good composition. I say the moon stays. It adds . . .

I think this one is the best of the bunch. I go back to what I said. Some clothes is better than none. The model looks more naturally posed but still could use some work there. Also the moon is a nice added element and the lighting is less harsh too. Nice work.

Greg - Thanks and I am agreeing more and more with you on using interesting, contextual, and strategic clothing.

MB - I didn't care for her foot positions in this one, hence the crop. Here's what I had.

Funny about the moon folks.. Nowadays with some photographers adding it into their shots it almost seems phony when you see it. See the other shot here with the moon......

But the moon is too small. It doesn't provide enough drama. I would go without the moon.

Re: With or Without? (Warning - Nudity)

    For the first set:
I find the first one very stunning.

For the the second, I do like the idea of the moon, I just find it to be a bit of a stretch for it to be included in this particular display. Perhaps if it wasn't cropped as tightly around her as it is. It just seems to me there are the two focal points, her and the moon. If things were a but less cropped on the horizontal I think it would help balance things out some.

    Either way, great pictures.
    Cheers,
    Greg

    Erna, Greg

Thanks for commenting. After kicking it around I think the moonless one wins, though not by much.. Some people prefer the moon and others don't, but like you said Erna, it's just so small. Not to mention the fact that evens don't work as well as odds in artsy stuff, so her and the moon tends to create some tension in the photo.

As always, thanks for commenting - good or bad, I really like feedback.

You could of had her add her own moon...LOL

I say without! It's so small it does not really add to the photo.

    GB,

Sorry I have not weighed in on this long ago, I have been out of the photo loop taking care of family issues. Regardless, I prefer the shot without the moon. The model is striking, the moon only takes away from your photo efforts. Seeing the full length shot, the shoes ruin the feeling thus your cropped or closer perspective is much better. Question: were these shots taken in the SD area; do you have access to models?

    Nice job!

Hey CF - Thanks for chiming in. Haven't seen you in awhile there but I guess we all fade in and out. I've gone months between shooting!

I think people here have made a convincing argument against the moon... It's nice, but its small size and 'lack of mood' enhancement weigh against it.

The shoot was out at Joshua Tree just inside the main gate. I have a few contacts with models (friends and friends-of-friends), but she was a FT model from AZ who I found up on OneModelPlace.com. Check it out. You can join for only $10 a year and sign up for model alerts into your area. A friend and I are doing some preliminary planning on a next shoot at the Salton Sea. We have to beat the heat (nlt end of May)

    Thanks for commenting!

PS - Check out the other shots of this model. There's a lot .... I've bombarded the site with them

I like the full body one, but the shoe's ruin the photo as it takes away from the mood. You did have a good model also.

GRF - So what type shoes then? Barefoot maybe? I was originally thinking hiking boots but they would not have worked with that waist wrapping - elegance and ruggedness are too far apart to work on the model (elegance against a rugged background works though,.. in my opinion).

thanks for the awesome photo; in my opinion the moon move the point of wiev of the really important in that photo: the model, definitively without

Re: With or Without? (Warning - Nudity)

I find the moon distracting, it's too small and upsets the balance of composition too much with the models. The moon is white and cold, far and distant but the models are close and warm..yet they appear to be 2Dimensional and from the same distance from each other.

I think the first moon shot -could- work. But the second one definately not - crop the moon out. The first shot you can sense the scale from the land and that makes all the difference

Re: With or Without? (Warning - Nudity)

IMHO for what's it worth, the pics are outstanding, but the moon does not work for me, too small and is a mite distracting. I like the first shot even better now that I have seen the one where the model is wearing shoes. Those shoes seem out of place with the scene, perhaps sandals or being barefoot. Also like the pic with the top being covered, sans moon of course. A little bit of strategically placed clothing or covering is more erotic then totally nudity, buts that's just me.
