Not anywhere near the high standard posted previously by the great Guillermo. Nice bit of light coming through but the picture lacks interest on either side of the window.

This one might actually look better in B&W with a slight bottom/side crop and some dodging and burning to accentuate the details.

Am lost, what's the mannequin doing here now? The scale doesn't look right, was this in the original shot?

I think it's supposed to represent the "high standard posted previously by the great Guillermo"

    Guillermo,
Seriously dude, you have to get over this "thin skin" stuff. You posted this in the critique forum. If you didn't really want people's honest opinions, you shouldn't have asked for them.
When I posted my original suggestion about the crop and B & W conversion, I had already copied the photo and done it. I *KNOW* it looks better, and that there is something salvageable here. The addition of the mannequin is ridiculous and you know it, and with or without the mannequin this shot is NOT as good as your usual offerings, and you know that too. I like your style and I like the thought you put into your compositions, but I don't really care for the childish attitude. Nobody pulls a winning shot off every time they press the shutter button, and it's unfair to expect that everyone here is going to love every photo you post.

You deserve to get ban out of this forum. You have quite a poor attitude and possibly think of yourself as been better than anyone here....news to you, your not. You had a pretty good pic chosen to be a sticky recently but there are guys here who almost weekly get this recognition, guys better than you. Maybe you need to create your own forum so you can post all your pics and ban people who don't critique you so much. In regards to that pic is average at best, comparing the amazing work post here daily from better photographers than you.

Im sorry to the mods here but I would honestly love to see this person banned from here, and sorry to all the great members here. I feel this needed to be said a LONG time ago.

BTW I reported this thread...I really just got fed up with this guy.

I would not ban him as he has not done anything really "wrong". However let the pretentious little so and so post away; then just ignore his posts.
I bet he loves all this attention

Actually, it appears I have been bad and, to save the moderators the trouble, I will ban myself. I suppose my humor is salt to another. I was simply attempting to engage in some light hearted forum banter using the image I had posted. I'm sorry it came accross so wrong.

    Re: Window Seat

It is sometimes difficult to communicate effectively in print without the benefit of voice inflection, body gesture and a twinkle and wink of an eye.

Guillermo: You do have some good work -- not perfect -- no one does. And I don't see a lot of critique from you on other's work, but maybe I missed it.

How about we forget this thread and start over?

From the posts I have seen, which may not be all of them, I think a ban, self-imposed or otherwise, is a little extreme.

Guillermo has offered an explanation and an apology. Personally, I don't want this forum's character to change from what it is -- encouraging, honest, polite and generous -- and inclusive. Peace.

    Re: Window Seat

Well I for one dont believe any of his "apologies". Read carefully and the pathological cynicism is still there. He knows what to write and how to do it. This guy truly believes he is what he portrays. A quick review of his posts here would be enough. I also want a healthy forum character, inclusive yes, but to a certain point. If a ban is extreme (I still think it is what he deserves) I will opt for the next best thing...completely ignoring further threads from this guy. I think Overbeyond is up to something here.

Guys, were making more of this than need be. I agree with shebang in that it is easy to misunderstand where someone is really coming from by just looking at text on the screen. If we are not happy about the way someone handles critique we have the option of not offering it. We are a group of many personalities and we won't always like each others ways but let's please be more patient and forgiving.

    Re: Window Seat

Jez, a lot of sarcasm flying around here. Guillermo, the pic has good depth and is more 'contemplative' in nature than most.. if it is missing something, I'm not sure the mannequin adds the right element to the shot. Maybe you were trying to inject a little humor, but some may feel that you're ridiculing their advice. Note that they may just stop providing it, if that's the case.

Anyway,.. the long winter will be over soon .........

    Re: Window Seat

This is a good picture and great idea. Love the focus but it seems like it may need the floor cropped out a bit. Even a tighter crop with just the window and a little more might also work for me.

    Quality shot though.....
