Aha! I did actually know you would have to do one of these. I like it! Plenty of interesting items working together in this one. I am especially drawn to the lighting on the pipe. Secondly to the vines overlaying the windows and their interaction with the safety glass cross hatching. My only problem with it is the glare in the top right window pane, where the light has eaten away many of the details. Perhaps some burning or a slightly more overcast day would help. Other than that this is the most interesting to me of the lot so far. Can't wait to see what else this little shack can yield.

    Hello Gary
I also feel this is far more interesting than the previous window/pipe shots. Apart from the lovely pipe we also have wonderful old radiators (I think). I see what CL is saying about the glare in the top pane but I am not too bothered by it as I feel it provides a nice bit of contrast in light and also may be a good provider of the lighting requirements within. The softness of the light on the tops of the radiators makes the rust so attractive.
Seeing that you are a resident of a bustling city you manage to seek out wonderful places to photograph.

For me, more a shot of the window and what is outside - with the pipe and units against the wall establishing depth and effectively placing us in our surroundings. Your control of exposure throughout the image is impressive and the mood is consistent with much of your other work - a certain muted depression. A very enjoyable image.

    I hope I didn't miss II...?

CL . . Yes, I could not resist, but never and do not intend this to be a part of the actual series. I don't think I'll be back here again as it was Restricted Federal Property and I got busted. Nothing too bad, and was let on my way with a warning. Many of my shots have come from this general area and so much of it is closed off and restricted. thanks for your comments.

Tom. . . I think they are some sort of radiators. This shack is right of fthe shore next to where the weathered warriors are. I also like the contrast that the bright area in the window provides. Yeah, not much landscape photography to be had in this town, so it gets me to search out interesting little nooks wherever I can find them.
    Thanks

Tuna . . . Thanks for your thoughts . I went for a slight underexposure here to keep the window light from blowing out too much and was able to bring up more detail in the shadows from the Raw file. I notice it has just as much latitude for adjustment as I had with Negative film, but with less noise. Number ll is posted in my users gallery and happened to be the Photo of the Day today, to my surprise and delight.

I agree with Tuna on your control of exposure. Anyone else might have processed the picture to bring out more detail in the pipe, but I like how you let the natural light from the window bring it out.

    Gary,

I am not 100% sure about that one. I think that the composition is excellent and there is definitely something going on in the lower part of the frame. I like the "layers" from the pipe to the radiators to the wall... But, my very first impression is that the whole scene looks slightly washed out. I am thinking that perhaps a moderate boost in constrast might help.
But then, when I look at the scene for some time, the delicate lighting on the pipe and the rusty tones on the metal gets all my attention. Simply put, the images makes me feel a bit uncomfortable, I get that odd feeling that the post-processing isn't exactly what it might have been yet the scene have an unusual charm of its own. Perhaps it's a good thing after all.
